Well, first off. School started it all. Well, actually, ended it all.
Whatever.
Basically, finals started really kicking my ass and gave me much stress. So for like, two weeks, I was drawing, studying, spray painting, etc, whatever the hell each class had. By the end of the week, LAST DAY of school, I got my period and went into my History class feeling like utter shit. I took the test, thinking I am going to fail, and left. Urgh, it was HORRIBLE.
I mean, I wanted my period, right? Because then it meant I wouldn't get it for Japan. So that was like, the only upside. Then, the next day I went to my sister's graduation because she was graduating from the same college as I am. Only, I have summer session before I graduate. So I don't get a ceremony (thank God! Those things are a pain in the ass!)
But then, a few days before my trip, I got the call. I GOT MY SCHOLARSHIP!! I GOT THE $15,000!! I was SO happy! My admin was the one who told me even though he wasn't suppose to. XD I eventually got the letter during my trip, so it was cool just the same.
AND NOW ONTO MY JAPAN TRIP!
For ten days, I went to Japan, visiting three main cities. Tokyo, Takayama, and Kyoto.
Tokyo
First, we flew 11 hours to Tokyo International Airport where we got into our bus and then met our tour guide named Yuka. She was pretty cool and nice. Then we got to our hotel and settled in before getting foods. Dinner was nice, it was an American dinner. XD This was where we met the other group that was to be combined with us. They were from Atlanta, Georgia. They were nice, too. At first. But we'll get to that later.
So for the next two days (I think?) we went to a few shrines and temples and generally exploring Tokyo. Let me tell you, its like a condensed version of New York. And I've never been to NY. XD It was still very awesome. We even went to Akibahara (probably spelled that wrong, let me know!) where we went bonkers and fangirled over anything anime in it. XD Got a couple figures from there, two Lelouch ones (one with a mask and one without) and a C2 figure. (By the way, Lelouch and C2 are from Code Geass, my recent anime obsession ... ... ... ORANGE-KUUUUUUUUN)
Takayama
Ahem. So, then we move to Takayama which was basically a suburban/rural area of Japan. The whole ride took nearly the whole day but it was the scenic route and VERY beautiful. This is where I,
arisreagan, and three others (Jen, Sara, and Ginger) basically bonded over Avatar and other animes. We even got them all obsessed with Code Geass when the new ep actually aired at the hotel. XD Couldn't understand a word of it due to no subs but it was AMAZING. Xingke! HOW I LOVE THEE!!
Wow, okay, lemme get back on track here. I'll fangirl Xingke when I watch the subs XD. Anyway! We were only in Takayama for two nights, but the area was GORGEOUS. Green EVERYWHERE. We even got to go to a natural hot spring during the scenic drive. It was very nice. ^__^
I bought a few other things for my family there, like a wind chime for my step-dad and a kitty doll for my nanny/house keeper (she was my nanny as a kid). I got my sister an "I <3 Tokyo" back in Tokyo because she wouldn't specify what kind of shirt she wanted XD so I got her that as a joke. She loved it, thank God.
And then I got sick. I have no idea why, but that morning I ended up throwing up and it was the day we were leaving for Kyoto. Gah!
Kyoto
I felt better after a night not going to dinner in Kyoto and just resting. Of course, we visited MORE shrines and temples. Though the Matsumoto Castle and Great Eastern Castle were teh awesome! The steps were absolute murder though! I swear, each one was like... a foot steep! I was surprised I didn't fall. Holy crap. We found more anime stores there too and went wild. Now, this is where the Georgia kids got annoying. Urgh! Well, it wasn't all of them. Just most of them. Especially one with the Dolche and Gabana (totally can't spell XD) glasses. She was complaining more and more as the trip went on and they kept making fun of the fact that we want to buy anime everytime we go out shopping. Yeah... they wanted to buy clothes. AMERICAN clothes. Okay, seriously, what the fuck? They were basically importing our exports AND getting it for more money than you would normally get it IN AMERICA! Because, hello, ITS AN IMPORT! *rolls eyes* Of course, now we all have inside jokes because of those girls and Dolche and Gabana girl, especially.
One time, we were walking back to the hotel, it was a little muggy and we were all a little tired from walking. But it was nothing new, the whole chopping district was LONG so its not like a little more walking would hurt. But no, everyone wanted to take the bus. We were like, "What's a little more walking? We've only been doing it all day!" DG Girl goes: "It's a forty minute walk, people! FOUR-OH!" she even used her fingers. We all glared and said, "We know we don't CARE" She kinda shrank back at that, but it was true!
So of course, after that, we have been imitating that ever since, saying "FOUR OH" everywhere. XD
Anyway, all in all, it was a fun trip. The flight back was shorter because we landed in San Francisco before going to LAX. Got home around 7pm, Thursday. Left 5:15pm Thursday. XD WE BROKE THE SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM.
Anyway, so that's all that has been happening this past month. Got Jury Duty this week but so far hadn't had to report in. Yay!
Manders, signing off.
